This late medieval mail shirt alternates between round rings with round rivets and solid flat rings, giving much the same visual impression as a flat ring shirt

This style of different rings was quite common in the late Middle Ages and is both functional and useful

Haubergeons feature three-quarter-length sleeves and a skirt that reaches to mid-thigh, and were designed for wear under plate armour – though they can absolutely be worn on their own for lighter duty
